SCRIPTURE

“Therefore, He is able to save completely, those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” Hebrews 7:25.

SPOTLIGHT

WHO DO YOU WANT PRAYING FOR YOU IN YOUR TIME OF NEED? Of course, you would want people who have a strong faith in Jesus Christ. You would want them to believe that He is the living God, Savior, Lord, Healer, and soon coming King. Throughout the New Testament you see parents and friends interceding with Jesus for loved ones. Church believers fervently prayed for Peter’s release from prison. [Acts 13.] The Bible instructs believers to pray for one another. [Read Colossians 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:25; 2 Thessalonians 3:1; Hebrews 13:18; and James 5:16.]

In my times of need, I have so been blessed by family and friends who have interceded on my behalf. When someone would send an email, text, or letter, telling me they were praying, how encouraged I became. When someone would call to pray for me, my faith became stronger. Busy people with many responsibilities were taking time to pray for me. Those are the people I wanted in my prayer corner.

One day a friend sent me an email reminding me about his commitment to pray for me. It read;

          “Hi Pastor Jack, I was on vacation for a bit, but have not ceased from lifting you up before the throne of grace. Camping out in Hebrews this AM, and greatly encouraged for you as I renew my mind thinking on our great High Priest and intercessor verses, Hebrews 4:14-16; 6:15-20; 8:6; 10:19-23. The greatest of all Intercessors is interceding for you. Hebrews 7:25. God is good and faithful, compassionate, merciful, and able."

WOW! Suddenly, the Holy Spirit clearly illuminated a truth to me; “The greatest of all Intercessors is interceding for you.” I felt Him wanting me to meditate on this, to give me an ongoing, strong confidence and hope when I might feel all alone. Here is the truth said in another way. Jesus Christ is your best prayer partner!

WHO DO YOU WANT PRAYING FOR YOU IN YOUR TIME OF NEED? You want the very best of the best. His name is Jesus. When you are sick, who do you want medical attention from? The very best doctor! When you are in need of financial advice, who do you want help from? The very best financial advisor! When you are in need of prayer, who do you want praying for you? The best intercessor and prayer warrior. His name is Jesus Christ and you already personally know Him as your Savior and Lord. Today, He wants you to know that He is praying for you like no one else. The Bible gives at least 3 reasons;

     #1 Jesus Christ can totally sympathize with your weakness. Hebrews 4:15,16 states, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. But we have One who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Just as you are tempted, Christ has been tempted. Just as you are suffering, Christ has suffered. Just like you, He knows pain, sorrow, and ridicule. Jesus is well qualified to pray for you like no one else. He is more than qualified to be able to help you in your time of sickness, or sadness. There is no one who understands what you are going through like Jesus. [See Hebrews 4:14-16; 2:18.]

     #2 Jesus Christ sits beside your Heavenly Father, Almighty God, on your behalf, because you are a believer. Hebrews 8:1 states, “…We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the majesty in heaven…” He took your punishment for your sin by sacrificing His life, and then He returned to heaven to sit and serve on your behalf beside Abba Father. Jesus is well positioned to be both your mediator and your prayer intercessor. There is no one who has the ear of God, more than His Son.

     #3 Jesus Christ intercedes for you, the believer, in heaven as He did for you, the sinner, on the cross. Hebrews 7:25 states, “Therefore He is able to save completely those who come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.” Jesus is well experienced at intercession for you. [See Isaiah 53:12 and Luke 23:34.] His ministry of intercession still continues in heaven. He has purposed to plead with God for you. He does not do it sometimes, but all the time. He is your 24/7 Prayer Warrior. Jesus continually talks to your Heavenly Father about you and what you need. On your behalf, He perseveres in prayer, because He knows you desperately need God’s supernatural intervention. [See Romans 8:34; 1 John 2:1; Hebrews 9:24.] Please note that it is still very important for you to have people pray for you just as Daniel interceded. [Daniel 9:3.] The reason has been noted that Christ intercedes for the believer in Heaven, while the Holy Spirit intercedes within the believer on earth. [Romans 8:26,27.]

WHO DO YOU WANT PRAYING FOR YOU IN YOUR TIME OF NEED? You want the one who is well qualified, well positioned and well experienced. His name is Jesus and He is not only your personal Savior, but your very best Prayer Partner and Prayer Warrior. There is not a day, hour, minute, or second, you are not being covered in prayer. Jesus is ever interceding on your behalf. There is not a moment that you are without Jesus. He is not only interceding, but He is also present with you. There is not a moment that you can say, “Nobody really knows what I am going through.” Jesus does know everything you are going through, because He has experienced every thought, feeling, and pain, you experience.

What you may not have realized is that you already have your best prayer partner and prayer warrior interceding on your behalf, without you ever asking. Jesus Christ wants you to continually remember that you are never without prayer, never alone and never without understanding and compassion. He will always be praying for you!

SOMETHING TO DO

Jesus Christ is your best prayer partner and prayer warrior. He totally identifies with you in your situation, and He continually intercedes for you. SOUL TIME PRAYER

Years ago, someone composed a song entitled, “AND HE’S EVER INTERCEDING.” Below you will find the words. Take them and personalize them into a prayer to Jesus.

      “Someone to go the extra mile,

        Just like a mother caring for her child;
        A friend who sticks through thick or thin,

        No matter what you've done, or where you've been;
        Just like one great big family,

        A stronger, older brother He will be;
        So quick and ready to defend,

        The younger, weaker, to the end.

        Chorus:
        And He's ever interceding,

        to the Father for His children;
        Yes, He's ever interceding,

        to the Father for His own;
        Through Him you can reach the Father,

        So, bring Him all your heavy burdens;
        Yes, for you He's interceding,

        So, come boldly to the throne.
