SPOTLIGHT
One bad apple can spoil a whole barrel. One small ant can contaminate a bag of food. One act of kindness can begin a positive, rippling effect. And someday, people all over the earth will be impacted by one thing that is like no other! THE TIME IS COMING!
Someday, something bigger than anything else is going to impact the whole world. All the human race will experience this event. It will not be climate change related. Climate change is said to have the biggest worldwide impact. It can cause health issues related to pollution and disease. As a result, it can cause poor nutrition and force displacement. However, the event I am speaking of will have a far bigger effect than any catastrophic event. It will not be a pandemic, nuclear disaster, volcanic corruption, flooding, or wildfire. Neither will it be a social or political movement, which will cause great havoc.
Today’s Scripture focus identifies what this event will be. THE TIME IS COMING when there will be a worldwide awareness of the glory of the Lord. The entire world population will have a knowledge of God’s glory. God’s sovereignty will be recognized by every human being.
“The glory of the Lord” refers to God manifesting His presence and power. Rather than the earth being filled with the glory of a powerful nation, instead, it will be filled with God’s glory. God will reveal His greatness, majesty and splendor. He will fully express His character to every human being. No one will be exempt. All people will know there is only one true God, who is great and good.
Today’s Bible verse uses water to describe the extensiveness of this event. At present, 71 percent of the earth is covered by water. Just like the oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, and streams are all over the earth, so will every person on the face of the earth become knowledgeable of who God is.
Get ready friends, THE TIME IS COMING when the glory of God will “invade” every person’s life in the world. This will be nothing less than a total global impact. No one will miss knowing about the knowledge of God’s glory. Every person will become aware of “the Lords shining greatness.” [NLV] No eyes or ears will be closed to God’s glory.
God is sovereign. His ultimate purpose for the human race will be realized. Everything that He planned in the beginning, for creation, will come to fruition. This is the time when God will be acknowledged by all humanity. The Apostle John had a revelation of God giving harps to angels who then began to sing a heavenly song: “Great and marvelous are your deeds, Lord God Almighty. Just and true are your ways, King of the nations. Who will not fear you, Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed.” [Revelation 15:3,4 NIV] Oh what a time!
Habakkuk 2:14 is a verse found in the middle of a lot of chaos. “Babylon”, is symbolic of ungodliness, self-reliance, and self-glorification. People are their own gods who try to create a heavenly utopia by their ungodly ways. What a mess! This well describes the world we live in.
What a wonderful promise in the midst of troubled times. The prophet declares that God’s original plans for the human race will come about. Peace will prevail. Man’s highest purposes will be experienced. THE TIME IS COMING!
Here is the take home question. Are you filled with God’s glory in the middle of your chaos? Today’s truth is that you can experience the wonderful, powerful presence of God during your toughest times and severe trials. God reveals Himself to you the moment you make Jesus Christ, the living God your personal Savior and Lord. Invite God to invade your life today!
