What do you really need to enjoy life?

SCRIPTURE

"His divine power has given us everything we need for a Godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires." 2 Peter 1:3,4 NIV

SPOTLIGHT

What do you really need to live life well? What will give you a full sense of accomplishment and success? What is the most important thing for you to have to enjoy life? What will cause you to be completely secure? Some may say wealth or health. Many may say a feeling of satisfaction. Perhaps it may be that sense of being in control. Others may say a good marriage or a good job. Some may settle for just being able to afford to buy what is important. Still others may say seeing their children being successful.

Someone penned a conversation a with God. A man asked, “Give me everything to enjoy life.” God replied, “I have given you life to enjoy everything.”

Peter wrote to believers to inform them that none of the above-mentioned ideas provided the correct answer to living a fulfilled life.  Reread the above Scripture focus. God wants to give you His divine life which includes His nature, character, and promises of blessing. Money cannot buy any of the things God longs to give you. Your ultimate sense of success and accomplishment is to be found in experiencing God’s divine life within you.  Becoming Godly will open up for you all the doors of living life to its highest heights.

Here is THE BEST INVITATION YOU WILL EVER RECEIVE. Underscore what the Bible is saying. God gives you everything you need to enjoy life. Everything means without exception. Nothing is excluded. All are included.  If you have everything, then you need nothing. You are never in need. God has not given you anything you need but everything you need to do life well. He should know what to give you in order to live a full life. God is your Creator.

Please note 3 things this verse provides for you:

  1. Everything you need to live a fulfilled life begins and ends with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Your desire for a harmonious marriage or having your needs met comes from Him. Jesus Christ gives you His divine power for everything you need in life. The Bible says not to accumulate riches in order to be fulfilled but to put your hope in God “who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.” [1 Timothy 6:17 NIV]
  2. Everything you need to live a Godly life begins and ends with having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Jesus pours His divine power into you so that your life becomes Christ-centered rather than me-centered. Your way of thinking becomes Christlike. You can live like Jesus!
  3. Everything you need to live a fulfilled and Godly life is because Jesus has called you to share in His perfect life and greatness. He longs for you to be like Him. The Bible says that He does not call you a servant but a friend. [John 15:15] You are a child of God which makes you a member of God’s family. He wants you to participate in having His divine nature.

Imagine the evil you will escape because you accept God’s invitation to be Godly. It is your choice. Choose Godliness! Choose to have God’s divine nature within you. This is everything! The opposite of everything is nothing. If you have everything, you lack nothing.

SOMETHING TO DO

The great Scottish Bible expositor Alexander MacLaren once wrote, “We may have as much of God as we will. Christ puts the key to the treasure chamber into our hand, and bids us take all that we want. If a man is admitted into the bullion vault of a bank and told to help himself, and comes out with one cent, whose fault is it that he is poor?” [Today in the Word, Moody Bible Institute]

SOUL TIME PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Almighty God, thank you for giving me everything. For filling me with Your divine nature, goodness, character, and rich blessings that save me from evil. Because you have given me everything I need, I must give you my everything, my life, my all. AMEN!
