SCRIPTURE

“That they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely, Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom, and knowledge.” Colossians 2:2b,3

SPOTLIGHT

I may not be as intelligent as I desire to be, but I do have the privilege of being wise. And, so do you! Allow me to explain why. Here is the reason;

Life’s greatest wisdom comes from personally knowing Jesus Christ. Paul the Apostle, clearly told the Colossian Christians that by knowing Jesus Christ, all the treasures of both wisdom and knowledge were now available to them because they had made Christ, their Savior and Lord. Throughout the whole letter, Paul emphasized that the Colossian Christians were complete, whole, and all together because they lived to honor, and glorify Jesus Christ. They were experiencing wisdom, and knowledge that was far beyond anything they could imagine.

Most people believe that life’s greatest wisdom comes from education, or experience. They earn degrees to become specialists, or they claim to have the experience to do something better than others. Who understands life better than the Creator of life? Paul wanted the Colossians to know that wisdom was not a result of what you know, or where you have been. Your personal relationship with the Creator of the world, Who left heaven, and visited earth, gives you the keys to unlock the mysteries of life. God’s wisdom, and knowledge makes you whole, and totally complete.

Treasure hunting is something both children and adults do. At Easter, parents hide candy treats around their home, and then send their children to search for the chocolate treasures. Some adults make a career of trying to find lost treasure from shipwrecks that contained artifacts, or gold and silver. I have a friend who searches for lost jewelry on beaches. The Apostle Paul clearly stated that when you discover you can have a vital, ongoing, personal relationship with the Living God, Jesus Christ, you will have found the greatest treasure that you will ever possibly find. Why? Because knowing Christ will unlock all the treasures to wisdom, knowledge, and understanding.

Nothing surpasses knowing Jesus Christ! Tell me what you know, and even tell me who you know. Neither will exceed the privilege, honor, and benefits of personally connecting with the Designer of life every day through prayer. Who else can promise you eternal life, and also the privilege of living life to its fullest on earth? Only Jesus! Who else can give you peace in the midst of a storm without you having to get drunk or shoot up? Only Jesus!

One songwriter expressed it this way. You can have all the wealth. Just give me Jesus! You can have all the fame, and prestigious titles. Just give me Jesus! You can have all the applause, awards, and honors. Just give me Jesus! You can have all the education, and financial reward. Just give me Jesus! You can have all the compliments, high fives, and embraces. Just give me Jesus!

Do you possess LIFE’S GREATEST WISDOM? You may not be as intelligent as you desire, but you do have the privilege of being wise. Here is how you can know:

1) You will not just know about Jesus Christ, but you will confidently say you really know Him in a personal way.

2) You will die to living for yourself. Life will no longer be about you, but about honoring your Savior.

3) You will gladly give up worldly gain in order to pursue life’s highest purposes revealed to you by Jesus Christ.

4) You will willingly trade worldly success for eternal reward.

Are you enjoying LIFE’S GREATEST WISDOM? It is truly wisdom, and knowledge beyond imagination. And it is free.

SOMETHING TO DO

Here are some suggestions to regularly practice in order to daily experience LIFE’S GREATEST WISDOM.

1) Cling to the cross, and not what you have accomplished, or earned.
2) Cherish the cross, and not who you are.
3) Kneel at the cross rather than thinking highly of yourself.
4) Value knowing Jesus Christ more than anyone else by daily spending time with Him.
5) Live life to its fullest, filled with your God given wisdom and knowledge.

SOUL TIME PRAYER

In knowing You, Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for making me wise. Before knowing You, I did not understand life, and also did not do life very well. I praise You for giving to me an understanding that I have never had, or could have ever purchased. AMEN!
