SEARCHLIGHT

Do you believe with all your heart that Jesus Christ is the one true God and that the Bible is God’s inspired written revelation?

SCRIPTURE

REJOICE GREATLY, DAUGHTER ZION! SHOUT, DAUGHTER JERUSALEM! SEE, YOUR KING COMES TO YOU, RIGHTEOUS AND VICTORIOUS, LOWLY AND RIDING ON A DONKEY, ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A DONKEY.  ZECHARIAH 9:9 NIV

SPOTLIGHT

My grandson, Grady, was two when he coined a new word. He had heard his parents use the words “literally” and “completely” in sentences. His grasp of the meaning of those words led him to one day say to them that he had “compliterally” done what they had requested him to do.

For me, the word made a lot of sense. Grady had completely and literally done everything his parents required.

Do you “compliterally” believe that Jesus Christ is who He claimed to be and that the Holy Bible is God’s Word for you to live by? Reading the book of Zechariah will strengthen your belief in Jesus Christ as the Messiah and that the Bible is God’s inspired message written to you.

Zechariah is the second most quoted Old Testament book in the New Testament. What the prophet prophesied about the Messiah was fulfilled by Jesus Christ. Just take a short look:

  • The Messiah was to be a humble king who entered Jerusalem riding on a colt. Read Zechariah 9:9 and then read Matthew 21:1-5.
  • The Messiah was to be sold for 30 pieces of silver. Read Zechariah 11:12 and then read Matthew 26:14-16; 27:3-10.
  • The silver was to be thrown in God’s house. Read Zechariah 11:13 and then Matthew 27:5.
  • The silver was to be used to buy a potter’s field. Read Zechariah 11:13 and Matthew 27:7.
  • The Messiah was to be struck and forsaken. Read Zechariah 13:7 and then read Mark 14:50, Matthew 26:31 and Mark 14:27.
  • The Messiah was to be wounded and bruised. Read Zechariah 13:6 and then Matthew 27:26.
  • The Messiah’s hands and feet were to be pierced. Read Zechariah 12:10 and then rea Luke 23:33, John 19:34 and 20:25.

Having read these prophecies, how can you not “compliterally” believe that Jesus Christ is the one, true living God and that the Bible is God’s inspired, infallible written voice speaking to you? Zechariah recorded these prophecies over 500 years before Jesus Christ began his earthly ministry. This is not coincidence or chance. His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, his betrayal, his desertion, and his death were all foreseen by the prophet.

Today your faith in Jesus and God’s Word is strengthened. You can rest assured that what God says and does is true. From now on, you can “compliterally” say “God said it. I believe it. And that settles it for me!”

SOMETHING TO DO

Look up all the Bible verses in the 7 prophecies mentioned above.

SOUL TIME PRAYER

Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, the Son and Holy Spirit, who are three in one, I “compliterally” believe who you are and trust your written Word, the Holy Bible, to teach me about life.

AMEN!
