ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING 2022 RESOLUTION

Motion to Amend Crossroads Constitution and Bylaws

Whereas, Crossroads is a part of the Assemblies of God Fellowship which recognizes the Biblical role of women in leadership as described in the Assemblies of God Position Paper titled, “The Role of Women in Ministry”. 

Whereas, Crossroads recognizes the Biblical role of women in leadership and has established a statement on Women in Ministry located in the Crossroads Participating Membership Manual that supports women serving in all levels of leadership within the church.  Biblical examples for female leadership include Deborah (Judges 4 and 5), Miriam (Micah 6:4), Tabitha (Acts 9:36), Phoebe (Romans 16:1-2) and others. 

Whereas, Crossroads desires to commission both men and women to serve in roles that are consistent with their character, gifting, passion and skills. 

Resolved, The Crossroads Constitution Article 7, Section 2A2 will be amended as follows: 

Current:  The Elders shall be men of mature Christian experience and knowledge who shall be expected to meet the requirements as set forth in 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:1-9.  In addition, they must be: 

  1. A representative and protector of Church Doctrine (Acts 15:5, 6, 15:22, 16:4
  2. Able to minister (James 5:14)

Amended:  The Elders shall be men or women of mature Christian experience and knowledge who shall be expected to meet the requirements as set forth in 1 Tim 3:1-7 and Titus 1:1-9.  In addition, they must be:

Current:  The Deacons shall be men of mature Christian experience and knowledge who shall be expected to meet the requirements as set forth in 1 Tim 3 and Acts 6.  Deacons are expected to be examples in every area of the Christian walk (i.e., family, morals, tithing, Christian conduct, etc.). Discrepancy in any area will disqualify said member from office.

Resolved, Crossroads Bylaws Article 2, Section 6a will be amended as follows: 

Current:  The Board of Deacons shall be nominated by the Pastor, ratified by the Official Church Board and presented to the church membership at the annual meeting for election to their post.  They shall be elected by a majority vote.  A Deacon shall be elected for a period of three years.  At the end of the three-year term of the office he shall be ineligible for nomination for a one-year period.  After the one-year ineligibility, he shall again be eligible for nomination to the Official Church Board.

  3. Bylaws Article 2, Section 6a – he/she will replace he in two places
